  • Very Important to know about Words of the Champions – it is divided into three difficulty levels, ranked One Bee, Two Bee and Three Bee. At the beginning of each level, you’ll find the School Spelling Bee Study List words.
  • For any classroom, grade-level or school spelling bee study all levels of School list.
  • Every year new version of Words of the Champions featuring 800 new words, including an all-new School Spelling Bee Study List remaining words are the same.
  • How to Approach Your Class Bee– Classroom bee use Grade level school spelling bee list. It is very important that you must know 450 words from the school list.
    How to Approach you school Bee-
  • Know your school spelling bee list of 450 words. (Each grade specific spelling set combined into one list.)
  • If it goes off-list (not the 450 words you studied) remain calm, you most likely know the word they will ask.
  • How to Approach Your District/Regional Bee
    The regional Qualifier round of bee uses the Word of Champions list provided by Scripps (if there is vocabulary at your bee you should study the Word of Champions vocabulary).
  • The next round which is the regionals round declares a winner who will represent that region at the National bee .
    Note: some regions do not have the regional qualifier round and some do. It depends on the level of competition in a particular region.
    Most regional bees go off-list- have rules, roots.
  • How to Approach The Scripps National Bee
  • Make sure you know the Study Guide given by Scripps, as well as each word’s definition for the vocabulary test.
  • HOW FAR DO YOU WANT TO MAKE IT ?
    You have to prepare according to where you want to reach. Honestly, some regions are more competitive than others. In some regions winning regionals is tougher than winning nationals. And don’t forget LUCK also counts. I prepared with a dream of going to nationals but it never happend. May be that was just not for me but the knowledge I gained while preparing will always be with me !!
